The above illustration shows our range of greenhouses. We offer a variety of lengths, but this gives you a guide to our width and height dimensions.

How do I choose a greenhouse?
If you are looking for a backyard greenhouse, our residential kitset range will offer you what you need. We have glasshouses, polycarbonate greenhouses, shade mesh houses, and multizone houses as well as Elite style greenhouses for a more traditional look with a brick base. All our prices are on our website, so feel free to have a browse.
The greenhouse product pages show recommendations for accessories as well. The most common setup is 3-tier shelving down one side, a side wall louvre for every 2 roof vents, a shade cover for glasshouses in the summer, and auto vent openers if you prefer to not have to manually open and close the roof vents.
If you are looking for something a bit more bespoke and your space and budget allow it, you might be interested in ourArchitectural Series. At nearly 4m tall, they have a very spacious feel to them. The steel substructure contributes to stability and wind-rating. If you would like a Quick Quote on the standard 12ft Architectural range, please fill out the short form and a quote will be emailed to you immediately.
The Custom Series can be more tailored to your needs with electric vent openers and shade systems, as well as water-proofing, and adding in HVAC systems. If you would like a quote for a larger custom greenhouse, please feel out our Enquiry Form.
How do I place an order?
You can purchase through one of our retailers, or directly through our website. Buying through our retailers gives you the advantage of free shipping and their knowledge and support (some stores more than others, but if they can't help you, give us a call).
If you are needing some help with the order you can call us on 0800 946 837, or email us at sales@wintergardenz.co.nz.
Are your greenhouses made in New Zealand?
Yes! Not only are they made in our factory in Kumeu (which you're welcome to visit, by the way), we are Certified New Zealand Made. Click on the link to trust but verify and see our certificate! We pride ourselves on creating our greenhouses right here in New Zealand. We offer you the peace of mind that your greenhouse is designed with the New Zealand climate in mind, made to stand up to the conditions here. You also have local support and customer service, should you need to call us.
Do I need consent?
For most all our kitset greenhouses in private use, no, as they are under 30 square metres. However you may have some unique council rules in your area so we can’t guarantee this, but it is very rare that any greenhouse under 30 squares needs consent. For the larger Architectural and Custom sizes, it depends on the application and location, but generally anything in a public area or over 30 square metres will need consent. We can provide you with documentation for your submission for your greenhouse, but you will need to pay for consent fees and any engineering that is requested.
What about delivery of kitset greenhouses?
Greenhouses can only be shipped to the nearest Mainfreight depot because of the weight. They will need to be picked up with a trailer, and the depot will forklift it onto a trailer for you. The glazing box (glass crate or poly box) contains the glazing and the rubber, and sometimes accessory parts. The frame box contains the framing parts of the greenhouse as well as the component bag and instructions, and shelving slats if you order shelving. Check out our shipping page for more information.
What tools do I need for building the greenhouse?
- Cordless impact driver to use with the 10mm nut setter / socket (NS450) that is supplied in this kitset
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Set square, spirit level and tape measure
- Scissors or sharp knife
- Bucket of warm soapy water (to soak rubber beading in - it will go in much easier!)
Where do I find the base dimensions for my greenhouse?
Click on the product page of the size greenhouse you are wanting, for example, a 10x16ft glasshouse, and scroll down and click on 'Download 10x16ft Foundation Page'.
Are they hard to put together?
Have a watch of some of our instructional videos and decide for yourself. If you have a bit of patience and time, they can be enjoyable to put together. If you would rather just enjoy the greenhouse but would not enjoy assembling it, call the professionals to do it for you and watch them from your lawn chair with a cuppa! And just to give you a rough idea, an 8x8ft greenhouse would take 2 people about a day to assemble.
Why should I buy Winter Gardenz over the other guys?
There's a reason most of our competitors don't display their greenhouses in retail outlets like we do. While you may find cheaper prices online, remember this is just a photo you're looking at. Is their framing sturdy and garanteed not to rust? Do they use 4mm toughened safety glass? Is it made here in New Zealand with good follow-up support or imported from a country where you'll have a hard time getting ahold of anyone if you run into trouble or need help? Paying a bit more up front (and sometimes even the imported ones are the same or more than ours) for a quality greenhouse will pay off in the long run, preventing the frustration, headache and expense of having to buy another one if the cheap one you got doesn't last.
What are the height to boundary rules for greenhouses?
Here's a link to the Auckland council rules on height to boundary.
