Get the foundations right for your Greenhouse

21st Dec 2020

In order to get the best results from your greenhouse, it is important to have a solid, leveled and squared foundation. With a secure and stable foundation, your greenhouse will have smoothly sliding doors, easy to open windows and a strong anchoring system, which is especially important in high wind zones. It also increases the lifespan of your greenhouse.

Our unique and custom made greenhouse bases are undoubtedly the strongest on the market. They are built using powder coated aluminum to help maximize the structural integrity of the greenhouse. Below you will see the options we have created for Winter Gardenz New Zealand Greenhouses. There is a foundation option to suit all needs. Our 10ft and above models, and our elite models, come with the brackets for any foundation configuration. Our 6x6ft to 6x12ft and our 8x6ft to 8x12ft Greenhouses are supplied with standard 300mm corner stakes, that can go into the ground, or into concrete pockets. Our larger greenhouses (6x16ft and up, 8x16ft and up, and all our 10ft range) come with the additional foundation mounting kits.  If you are getting a smaller Greenhouse and still want to mount it on timbre or concrete, you can order our  optional foundation mounting kits

Our standard-range doors (not Elite) are 654mm wide by 1953mm tall.  The opening is 654mm on the 6ft wide models, and 1290mm wide on the 8 and 10ft wide models, as the 6ft only has one door and the 8ft and 10ft have 2 doors.

People often ask what they should put down inside their greenhouse. This can be as simple as laying gravel or shell chip, depending whether or not you are using a ground bed. Pavers are always popular, as they create a small pathway and also help to retain the heat. It’s best to stay away from using material like wood or bark, as it decomposes and can become slippery.  Please see the diagram and measurements below for planning space for your greenhouse.
